The Red Spot Rainbow Severum ( Heros efasciatus ) is a striking freshwater cichlid known for its warm golden body and bright red spotting that intensifies as it matures. This peaceful, intelligent species is one of the most personable cichlids available — often recognizing its keeper and eagerly greeting them at the glass. These Severums make excellent centerpiece fish for medium to large aquariums and coexist well with other calm South and Central American cichlids.
