• Adult Size: can reach 12–18 inches under suitable conditions
• Temperature: 78–86°F for warm-water grow-out
• pH: stable neutral to moderately alkaline water
• Water Hardness: moderate; adequate buffering supports filtration
• Tank Size: Fry can start in a nursery tank; adults need a large grow-out system, contained pond, or spacious adult aquarium
• Temperament: Schooling juveniles; breeding males become territorial
• Setup: Provide reliable oxygenation, filtration, waste removal, and room to grade growing fish.
• Diet: Complete tilapia fry, fingerling, or grow-out feed sized to their mouths.
• Compatibility: Keep growth groups of similar size; do not treat adult breeding fish as peaceful aquarium companions.
